Hello everyone!!!
With the closure on the mainstem of the Columbia River, we have to start fishing the tributaries of the Columbia. I am currently fishing the Wind River and Drano Lake ( Little White Salmon River), this past Wednesday was the best fishing at the Wind River, with over 80 salmon reported caught from the information I was given from the areas fish checker. This area it pretty much a hit and miss fishery, so you need to fish this area as much as possible to enjoy some of the better days of fishing. Today, May 2nd, at Drano Lake was one of the first days that I have seen some very productive fishing, we did well!!! There were not to many boats out there today, but the fishing was very good for all who was there in their boats, even the bank fisherman did very good from the early morning hours to about noon time with several limits taken. From my past experience of some very good fishing at Drano Lake, you can expect to do well the following 2 weeks then, the fishing really picks up at the Wind River.
To get the inside info on what to use or what the fishing is like at any one of the areas, you need to contact Rolf or Astrid Deik at Wind Mountain Resort 1-509-427-5125 (www.windmountainresort.com), they will let you know what is going on and they have all the tackle and bait needed to catch these springers in their area. They have an R.V. Park and some overnight accommodations....Stop by and say hi to them, they are the nicest busiest people you will ever meet!!!!
I still have some openings in May so give me a call and let me take you out and catch a SPRINGER!!!!
See Ya out There!!!
