June 18: I took old friend Dan Hawkey (503-624-2900), his son Jay (971-645-2579) and his girlfriend, Roberta Stone. This was Roberta's first trip and she caught 80 smallies to Dan's 110 and Jay's 119 for a total of 313 fish. That's our one-day record for so far this season for three fishermen. It was 38 in Fossil, 48 at the river with the water a nice 60 degrees, running 1070 CFS, and 3-4 clarity. By the way they only had 124 at lunch, what an afternoon they had. Dan and Jay joined the 100+ Club, again.
June 17: Three friends from the all over the country came to Fossil to flyfish. Richard Green of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael Hertzel of Phoenix, AZ, and Murray Carlson of Vancouver, B.C. They fished top water flies most of the day and Richard caught over 90 smallies, with Michael and Murray also getting good numbers. What a way to spend time together, catching smallies top water fly fishing.
