October 2: I took friends Chris Tippets (503-642-7794) and Corey Moore. It had been raining the day before, and the lightning storm had knocked the pwoer out for a couple of minutes. We put in in heavy fog, and by 9 AM we had not caught a fish, and the water was getting dirtier. We decided to go down river 6 miles where the water was clear and fish. Good decision!! Chris ended up with 103 smallies, joined the 100+ Club, and Corey had 66. They were getting fish all day long, and ended the day with a GREAT top water bite. It was 34 in Fossil at 5 AM, 40 at the river and the water had cooloed down to 51, 224 CFS (it was 481 CFS today and still going up). I don't mind fishing in off-color water, but not on the first day.
