March 27: Took another GREAT trip with Don Miller, his son-in-law Sam Palmer, and grandson Luke Palmer. It was 26 in Fossil at 5 AM, the river was up and running dirty, so we used our "Back-up" Plan and went to the Private Largemouth Lake. It was my first trip there this season. The lake was 44 degrees, the air temp was 41 and Luke caught the first largmouth at 9 AM. They ended up with 8 fish at Lunchtime, and 24 for the day. Same was the big winner with 10 fish, and Don and Luke tied at 7 each. It was 68 at lunchtime and the water warmed up to 50 degrees. One of the benefits of clients returning year after year is watching the children grow up, and Luke is now 13 and growing into a very nice young man, plus he caught the first fish and the biggest. They are booked for the same Monday next year, and Don and Sam might have some tough competition.
