August 10th: fished with husband-wife team, Bob and Sonja Bossert of Selah, Wa., and caught lots of fish and Sonja landed a huge 21 1/4" X 15" Master Angler Smallmouth. We fished mostly Carolina rigs on the bottom covered with Smelly Jelly (50-50 mix of Craw/Anise and Anchovy). Bob caught the most at 82 with some nice fish in the mix, but Sonja's 39 fish with the big one was the highlight of the trip. I learned some new tricks from Bob and Sonja, who are avid tournament fishermen, and am looking forward to trying out some new product and technique. More later!

August 8th: Fished with old time friends the Kobos Family: father-David, son-Adam, and Adam's wife of less than a month Betty. Everyone caught lots of fish, but Betty caught only bigger fish. Her first nine fish had a small 12" fish and one as large as 16 inches. We ended up just of 100 fish, but cuaght lots of nice 12"-18 1/2". Adam boated the big one and David boated the most (41). Again the Carolina rigs boated the bigger fish.

August 8th: Fished with Corey Reynolds and nephew Jad Mulgrew from Cathedral City, Ca. for a day of lots of fish. They boated over 140 fish with lots (20-30) fish in the 12"-17" range. We fished lots of 2" twintails and 3" grubs, but caught the bigger fish on Carolina rigs on the bottom.

July 7th: We ran two trips today. The "Ol guide took the father-son team of Robb Norby and Nicholas on a great fish catching trip. Nick won the day with 65 fish (very good for a nine year old), and lets just say Robb fisnished second (he's a great Dad, who caught over 100 fish in one day last year). We had a great trip and Robb is working on a two-day trip with four Father-Son teams for next year.

Skip Geer took Brian Richey (503-693-2553) and Gary Doyle (503-648-4529) for another great day of fishing. They boated lots of fish with Biran gettin 107 fish and joining our 100+ Club, and Gary boating a nice 21" X 13 1/2" Master Angler Smallmouth. Most of the fish were caught on 2" and 3" grubs, but the big fish was taken on a Carolina rig fished on the bottom. All the baits were covered with Smelly Jelly.

August 3rd and 4th: "They're Back" The group from Las Vegas, Nevada made their 9th Annual treck to the John Day River and ten fisheremn boated 1,845 smallies in two days. The big winner wass Dave Sterling of CSR Hydroconduit with Most, Biggest, and Champion (five biggest). Dave had 262 fish, 19" beauty, and the five longest (we run a "Catch and Release" tornament). There were lots of fish caught and some new members to the 100+ Fish Club in one day: Gary Stokes-110, Ryan Stokes-132, Damian Lobato-121, Dave Sterling-131,131, Bill Wellman-107, 108, and Ryan Wellman-119. The group from Las Vegas Paving and CSR HydroConduit have already booked for next year for the first Week end in August, but we still have two open Two-Day fishing Camps: July 26th-27th and August 6th-7th. Give us a call for your group.

July 27th and 28th: George Hadley and I had the pleasure of the Tallan Family; father Mick and sons: Brett,Scott, and Todd. They are from Salem and beginning fly fishermen. They had a great instructor in George Hadley who owns Fly Country Outfitters (an Orvis dealer) in Salem (503-585-4898). They caught lots of fish on a fly and gear both. Between George, Steve, and Kaleb's (camp cook) deep fired turkey we all had a great time.
