12/29/2003 Archived Entry: "Clearwater and Snake River Fishing-2004"

With the end of our 2003 season at hand we are looking forward to some great opportunities in the upcoming year. At this time the Clearwater is producing some excellent steelhead fishing and this should hold up well for the next few weeks. January and February typically produce some of the best fishing for the big "B-run" fish, the water temps are low and these big guys are stacked up in the deep holes just waiting for us. It's tough fishing but if you can handle the weather it can be great fishing!

As the steelhead season winds down in March we'll be watching the Springer counts on the Columbia for the first reports on the upriver chinook migration-the excitement over the potential of this years run is already at a high level with the early projections for another record or near run to our region. Our peak season will run between the last week of April and the second or third week in May if past patterns hold.

Sturgeon and smallmouth fishing will get underway by the time the springers arrive and if last year is any indication the bass fishing will be something to write home about. The Snake has been showing a pattern for the past few years that is worth watching and last year it seemed to kick up a notch in numbers and size of fish-2 smallies over 7 lbs and numerous fish in the 5 to 6 lb. range-we're starting wonder when someone will hit the 8 lb. mark!

We want to thank all of our guests, friends and associates for their support during the past seasons and we look forward to another great year---

Thank you
