Trying to outguess the weather and losing more than winning. Deschutes continues to pump galcial till from White River more frequently than not making September the most difficult late summer fishing I have seen in 27 years of guiding the Deschutes. I am headed for the Rogue to catch ADULT Summer Steelhead. My in the know contacts tell me it is the best they have ever seen and dam counts over Gold Ray combined with low water will make for GREAT Steelhead Fly fishing. Immediate seats open for those willing to travel to the famous Rogue River. The lower Sandy is loaded with Coho. Many aare ripening but there are still plenty of quality Coho as Well. Plunked baits, buzz bomb type lures seem the most effective. Fly fishers are having a fiield day. Fishing at the coast is slow with lots of grass and warm water in Tillamook Bay. Rain after the next full Moon and I will be at the coast getting those late run KIngs.Dry streches will find me in Eastern Oregon on the Deschutes and John DAy Rivers after a jumbo return of prime hard fighting Stelhead.Right now my focus is on the Rogue. Fishing the waters made famous by Dick Powell and Zane Gray. Ginger Rogers passed away so I won't be seeing her anymore at her home on the Rogue.Nice Lady.
