Salmon fishing remains good in the big river and is improving in the Willamette and tribs. Fly fishing has been better than normal for this time of year.Warmer than normal flows and clear water have allowed us to get to Steelhead with the fly gear. Sink tip lines are required. Our Teeny lines are performing beyond our expectations. Steelhead have responded to our herl cased caddis patterns. Santiam River will soon be on the menu. Fun fly and gear fishing from the boat for Trout,Salmon & Steelhead.Deschutes Trout are actively feeding miday. Best fishing is from 10 AM - 4 PM.Stones,Hare's Ears & Pheasant Tails have been good bets.OTD Caddis have been taking fish right behind other anglers.

Pyramid Lake trip was Great. If you have not fished in the Nevada Desert you owe yourself a trip.Easy ego building large cutthroat. You really do not need a ladder or tube but it helps.I beat up the local experts with ease. I guess the fish there had never seen a Conehead Muddler. Chases and takes nearly every cast in the mid morning to noon times and 4 -7 PM. Largest fish was 8 lbs.........Caught by my wife from the beach in shorts and sandals while I waded chest deep in 3 ft. breakers. She got the big fish in Canada last year and the big fish at Puramid this year.....Oh well I've had my days. Currently we are involved in Trout Fishing on the Deschutes and Salmon - Sturgeon Fishing on the Colunbia. Tuesday
Trouting on the Deschutes produced just over 90 Trout for 3 rods.Stones and Pheasants Tails were best with my secret " old and forgotten " pattern comming in a close second. We got a few on Gnats when the wind was calm. For April fishing I would say that was a good - Great day.Thursday and Friday
we spent the day limiting the boat on Sturgeon while reelasing many keepers in the process. Sturgeon angling is the best I have seen in years with lots of keepers in the 50 " range. Good fresh fish from the ocean. We wait for the Salmon runs to show in the Bonneville area. Summer steelhead are scarce but a good rain will iinprove the bite and the numbers. With the current run off pattern we could have a very good year for fly fishermen seeking early (very hot ) Summer Steelhead.Overall I would have to say fishing is very good and I don't often get to say that these days.
