Bouy 10 Salmon fishing should be good this year. The commercial trollers caught their early limit in 3 days. Columbia River Salmon fishing was good for about a week at Bonneville but has slowed. Good news is that the Steelhead are biting well in the Columbia and Clackamas. Lewis river Steelhead are IN NOW and with the coll water of the Lewis they are biters. Just returned from a 4 day trip on the Deschutes. Deschutes Steelhead are allready above Shearrs Falls. But not in catchable numbers. Trout were after Golden Stones size 10, Light Caddis,Dark Caddis and Pale Mourning Duns/Spinners/Emergers and BHPT's.
The bite is sporadic which fits the recent weather pattern. We had 2 1 hour periods where the bite was actually every cast. I was busy tying flies on for my ham fisted oh no he's in my backing again bustemoff customers. For my sake it's a good thing I never run out of the " right " fly. While the high temps and big Crowds are pounding the Deschutes in August I will be fishing for Salmon at the mouth of the Columbia River near Buoy 10 just west of Astoria Oregon. Cool weather and lots of big Chinook Salmon. I will return to the Deschutes and mid Columbia in September and October. This weeks hot tip ?
Don't be afraid to fish a small single egg pattern for Summer Steelhead. They love soft fuzzy yarn or bead eggs combos.Remember low clear water means excellent visability for fish and Fishermen. I fished the Clear Streams of MT Hood last week and was dismayed by the lack of fish. Someone is killing fish including the Steelelhead Smolts. Bad news for Sandy river anglers.Call now for your Summer Salmon/Steelhead trip. 503-661-3474.

Wow what happened to JUNE.Shad Trips,Deschutes Trout,Columbia Sturgeon and Kings. What a month.Water conditions were great for all of my trips this spring. What a blessing.
Deschutes Trout fishing has improved since he full moon.If you can toss a caddis 20 ft you will be catching fish.Lots of Steelhead available in the Sandy,Clack and Santiam drainages.Springer fishing is winding down.Summer Chinook fishing ws good for a while but now it has slowed.A record run of shad over Bonneville Dam on the Columbia tells me that ocean conditions have been good.Oversize Sturgeon fishing is Good and we have fish in the Columbia that can't be landed. When four young men with egos the size of Texas pass the rod off 3 times and still only see the fish when it jumps you can bet you have a JUMBO Columbia Sturgeon on.July is pretty well booked up. I will be on the Deschutes,Columbia,Nestucca & Santiam Rivers this month.August will find me at the mouth of the Columbia River fishing near Astoria Oregon in the vacinity of Buoy 10 for nearly 1 million Fall Chinook and Silver Salmon. We still have prime days available for what is unquestionably Oregon's best Salmon Fishing.September we will be chasing Salmon and Steelhead in the Columbia and the Deschutes and a few places that will remain nameless. October Rogue River Steelhead Fly fishing trips are starting to fill up. Beautiful weather, awesome scenery and very willing hard fighting Rogue ADULT Summer Steelhead. Then it's back to the John Day River for the worlds best Steelheading.
