Fishing at the mouth of the Columbia River is Excellent. Hooking fish in the 40 lb class everyday. Lots of Coho and Chinook being caught. An average day sees us getting about 75 takes a day. This run is just getting started. Easy limits in the Ocean and it appears that ODF&W underestimated the run size again. Good. We are fishing 40 lb leaders using plug cut and whole herring. The Salmon are full of Anchovie but are very willing to take Herring. Just like humans they must appreciate a change in diet. Besides Herring are bigger and they have to chase less to get full. Very comfortable weather with the high temps between 65-75 deg. Visit the internet specials page for a great deal on a fishing trip.Saturday, August 9, 2003

Steelhead bite at Bouy 10 fishery is Good.
Chinook bite is spotty. Coho bite is Poor.
This will all change next week as the Coho and URB Chinook start to gather in good numbers in the Astoria area of the Oregon Coast. After 27 years as a guide I still get excited about the great fishing to come.I hope to be posting new pictures soon. High tech posts from remote locations can be a problem for some :) I may fall into that catagory at times.Aug 16 the limit in the river goes to 3 fish. Call me for a guide trip.
